Telangana seeks 6 crore more wage days

Rao brought to the notice of Mr Singh that since TS has surpassed NREGA target for this year (2016-17).

Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Monday urged the Centre to sanction an additional six crore days of wage employment under the NREGA scheme to the already-sanctioned 10 crore days.

Minister for panchayat raj and rural development Jupally Krishna Rao, who met Union panchayat raj minister Narendra Singh Tomar in New Delhi along with TRS floor leader in Lok Sabha A.P. Jithender Reddy, also sought the release of Rs 3,300 crore arrears pertaining to various Central sponsored schemes.

Mr Rao brought to the notice of Mr Singh that since TS has surpassed NREGA target for this year (2016-17), the Centre should come forward to sanction another six crore wage days for the remaining two months of this year.
