KSU takes Law Academy protest to varsity

The protests at Law Academy turned violent on Sunday when SFI workers vandalised CCTVs, furniture and window pane.

Thiruvananthapuram: Workers of the Kerala Student’s Union (KSU) gheraoed Kerala University pro-vice-chancellor N. Veeramani-kandan demanding a probe into the ‘anti student’ policies of the Kerala Law Academy Law College on Monday.

Around 25 workers who laid siege to the PVC’s office were arrested and removed by the police in the morning. The KSU claimed that the varsity has agreed in principle to constitute a probe team to look into allegations.

The protests at Law Academy turned violent on Sunday when SFI workers vandalised CCTVs, furniture and window pane.

The unions continued their protests on issues such as alleged favouritism in giving internal marks and installation of CCTVs on the campus.

The protests at the Law Academy began a few days back after permission was denied to students to start a rally over the suicide of engineering student Jishnu Pranoy at Thrissur.

Meanwhile, ABVP national necretary O. Nidheesh condemned SFI attack which he said was at the behest of the college administration.
