Cyberabad SHOs Instructed to Ride in Front Seat with Windows Down

Cyberabad police commissioner introduces a new directive for SHOs to engage with the community during duty hours.

Hyderabad: In an attempt to take policing closer to the people, Cyberabad police commissioner Avinash Mohanty on Friday instructed all station house officers to sit in the front seat in their official vehicles when on duty and have the window glasses rolled down. Earlier they used to sit in the middle seat in their vehicles.

Mohanty told Deccan Chronicle that SHOs becoming familiar with the people in their jurisdiction and vice-versa was a primary requirement of the job. “ It is an attempt to make them visible to the citizens, instil a sense of confidence and also for the SHOs to know what is happening around and not be in oblivion,” he added.

Mohanty also instructed the SHOs to get down from the vehicles and move around and interact with the people while on patrol. He also directed them for the upkeep of their resources like patrol cars, bikes and other infrastructure.
