Thiruvananthapuram: The vigilance and anti corruption bureau, during raids conducted in various tuition centres across the state on Saturday, found out that many government employees were taking private tuitions.
In Thiruvananthapuram six teachers and one KSRTC conductor were found taking class during office hours. In Kollam one deputy prison officer, one sales tax officer, three teachers and one KSRTC conductor was found taking classes. In Pathanamthitta, one legal metrology inspector, one teacher and one civil supplies department salesman was identified taking classes at tuition centres.
In Alappuzha, those identified for taking tuition classes included one clerk of the health department, one clerk of the revenue department and one teacher. One village extension office in Iddukki, one teacher in Palakkad, two teachers in Malappuram, one teacher in Wayanad, two teachers in Kannur and one teacher in Ksargod are among those identified as taking tuition during office hours.
Vigilance also found that many teachers were also canvassing students of their schools to tuition centres they teach. Vigilance director B.S. Yasin said that such raids will also continue in the future. Raids were conducted in over 150 tuition centres, including 30 centres in Thiruvananthapuram, 15 centres each in Kol-lam, Ernakulam, 10 centres in Pathanamthit-ta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, and five tuition centres in Iddukki, Mala-ppuram, Kannur, Wayan-ad and Kasargod.
