Vijayawada: The nine accused who were involved in the murder of Kalidasu Subrahmanyam, 33, were arrested on Friday. They were held for the murder at Machavaram in the city on December 6. The six accused brutally killed Kalidasu Subrahmanyam, alias Vemiri Subbu, with knives and escaped on their bikes. The police produced the accused before the media.
Explaning the details of the case, the commissioner of police, Gowtam Savang, showed mediapersons all the movements of the accused on the day of the murder, using CCTV video footage. The accused all belong to Guntur District, except for one who is a resident of the city. Bala Bhaskar alias Balaiah, Samudrala Pawan Kumar, Kamepalli Lakshmaih, Addanki Sudhakar, Tomati Nagaraju alias Killi Nani, Gaddeti Surendra, Duru Vajrala babu, and they shelter was given to an accused Mohammed Galib involved in the murder of Vemuri Bujji. Out of the nine accused, seven are ‘rowdy sheeters’. The rivalry between Gaddeti Surendra and Vemuri Subbu has been growing from the year 2014. Vemuri Subbu and his brother were involved in the murder of Medisetty Krishna of Tenali. Medisetty Krishna’s relatives and friends plotted and killed Kalidasu Satyam, brother of Subbu in 2015.
From then on, Subbu came to Rajarajeswaripeta, Vijayawada and lived with his family. The murderers planned to kill Subbu. They went to Vijayawada and purchased six knives. As the accused were from Tenali of Guntur district, they helped Mohammed Galib to stay at Vijayawada and kept their knives at Galib’s shed. Before the murder, the accused went to Tirumala and shaved their heads. They purchased six mobile phones and SIMs with fake names and took bikes from their relatives and friends. Vajrala babu was appointed to watch Subbu before they committed the murder. They noticed that Subbu regularly went to a tea stall at Machavaram.
Gaddeti Surendra, Balaiah, Lakshmaia, Pawan, Sudhakar, Nagaraju planned to attack Subbu at that place. They started on December 6 from Tenali to Vijayawada at 3 am and reached Vijayawada at 6 am. They left Vajrala Babu at the tea stall as a lookout and all the others stayed at Galib’s shed. After they received information from Vajrala Babu, Gaddeti Balaiah, Nagaraju (on one bike), Lakshmaia, Pawan alias laddu (on one bike), Arun, Sudhakar (on the third bike) reached the spot.
At that time, Subbu sat on the cement table, Balaiah attacked first, with his knife, then the others attacked him, causing six severe injuries. Kalidasu fell to the ground down and all the accused escaped in various streets. “It’s a pre-planned murder caused by old rivalries. Vemuri Bujji who died in the attack, was accused in the murder of Medisettty Krishna of Tenali in 2014,” said Savang. He said all the arrested were involved in Subbu’s murder planned by Surendra and the police tried to trace the killers using technology.
