Hyderabad: Students of Diploma in Elementary Education (DIET) course alleged that they are not able to apply for the Telangana State Teachers Recruitment Test 2017 (TSTRT2017) as the duration of their two-year course has been extended up to 2018. Registrations for TRT will end this month.
According to the aspirants, they have completed their practical exams and paid the fees of their final external exams and their final exams were conducted in April for the first year but the attendance of three months have been ignored which resulted in extension by three months. Due to which, the course will end by February 2018 and students will lose a year.
Umaima Tasneem a DIET student, said, “As per the schedule of SCERT, the duration of our course was dated from December 9, 2015, to September 16, 2017. But due to unknown reasons our course was delayed and it started on March 1, 2016, on the orders from the High Court.”
She added, “We suffer since the duration of our two-year DIET course has been extended up to February 2018. We were given the eligibility to write TSTET 2017 and many students from our batch are qualified.”
Dr M.Vivekan Reddy, principal, DIET Hyderabad, said, ‘Instead of starting the new batch in the month of June-July this batch was started in March 2016 due to which 2015-17 batch will be delayed till next year. This batch will also not be able to apply for the Teacher Recruitment Tests as only qualified students are eligible to apply for TRT.” Ghanta Chakrapani, chairman of the TS State Public Service Commission, said, “The rules say that those who are eligible at the release of the notification, can apply.”
