Nellore: Police recover Rs 31.75 lakh from 11-member gang

They have uploaded the names of youth who paid them cash for jobs in the website along with 450 fake names and sent mails.

Nellore: Prakasam police held a gang involved in cheating unemployed by offering jobs in Zilla Parishat. Police detained 11 persons and recovered Rs 31.75 lakhs cash the gang collected from the jobless youth on Friday. According to Prakasam district Superintendent of Police B. Sathya Yesubabu the kingpin of the gang Shaik Kasim Vali alias Legend Kasim, who deserted the army after working for eight years, has devised the strategy to cheat the youth searching for jobs. His acquaintance with Prakasam ZP Chairman Edara Haribabu as his driver came in handy for the accused to impress other accused to join him to make a quick buck.

The gang created fake letter heads, appointment orders, stamps of higher officials, empty recommendation letters from VIP’s, Aadhaar numbers and fake receipts of two months salaries paid to 35 persons at the rate of Rs 10,200 per month.

The gang had collected an whopping Rs 75 lakhs from 75 youth promising jobs and even delivered fake appointment orders. They have also created a website zpprakasam.com as against the existing prakasamzp.com by paying Rs 50,000 to a net centre at Guntur. They have uploaded the names of youth who paid them cash for jobs in the website along with 450 fake names and sent mails.

Based on the information from some youth cheated by the gang, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer lodged a complaint at Ardhaveedu police station on December 12. Interestingly, an assistant sub inspector of police Poluraju working at Giddalur turned as informer to the gang when police launched a probe into the case. He is at large and police are on the lookout for him.

A team of Police under the supervision of the SP Sathya Yesu Babu and Markapuram DSP Ramanjaneyulu investigated the case and nabbed the accused on Thursday evening. They have also recovered the stamps, fake appointment orders and some property documents from the accused besides Rs 31.75 lakhs cash. SP had a word of praise to the team for arresting the offenders.
