Hackadrone 2018 to be held in Hyderabad in February

Hyderabad: India’s first Unmanned Arial Vehicle (UAV) hackathon - Hackadrone 2018 - will be held in Hyderabad in February next. The programme will be organised by Cyient Ltd and DJI in sponsorship with government of Telangana and Microsoft.

The event, to be held between February 5 and 9, will witness participation from people across India who aspire to develop innovative commercial and industrial solutions using the latest drone technology. It is open to developers, start-ups, college students and independent software programmers from across the country. The participants will compete to develop original software applications on drone platform for utilities, telecommunications, energy and natural resources, smart cities, navigation, security, transportation and agriculture.

The winner at the hackathon will get cash awards, while there will be a special recognition for any all-women team. Registrations for ‘Hackadrone’ were open, and the final entries will be selected by January 25.

Dr Jan Radtke, vice-president and head of New Business Accelerator at Cyient said, “We look forward to innovative projects that participating teams will present.”
