Karnataka: No sign of woman in Meti case
Hubbali: The woman who accused former minister, H.Y. Meti of sexual harassment, has allegedly left town after she discharged herself from the district government hospital where she was admitted for a stomach ailment, against the advice of doctors on Tuesday.
At her last press conference she had withdrawn her charges Meti claiming she was forced to make them by four unidentified men, who had threatened to kill her otherwise.
In-charge district surgeon, S.C. Patil said the woman had been admitted to the district hospital with hyper acidity and back pain. “She was also under a lot of stress as she claimed to have not slept over the last few weeks. But she discharged herself at 1 am and left the hospital along with her husband,” he added
Bagalkot town police station CPI, S R Ganachari, when contacted, said she had informed him that she was leaving town and going to stay with her uncle for a few days. “She has switched off her mobile phone and did not tell us where her uncle lives. She has left Bagalkot for some relief as she has been under a lot of pressure since the controversy broke out. We can provide her security only if she is in the district. But we are keeping a watch on her home in Bagalkot as she had complained there was a threat to her life," he said.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka State Commission for Women has written to the Bagalkot district police to provide the woman adequate security and asked the superintendent of police to submit a report to it on the whole sordid affair.
As for Mr Meti’s former gunman, Subhas Mugalkhod, who was allegedly responsible for making the sex video , the police has still no clue where he is. His father chose to leave the house after he was badgered with questions by the media although the police is providing it security as well.
