Hyderabad: 5 overstayers from Africa detained

Two of the foreign nationals were earlier booked in a cheating case at OU police station.

Hyderabad: Five overstaying foreigners and five suspects were detained by the Rajendranagar police during the cordon and search operation conducted late on Wednesday night at Sun City.

Rajendranagar inspector G. Suresh said a cordon and search operation was conducted at P&T Colony, Sun City and Bandlaguda areas with about 200 police personnel on Wednesday night. During the operation, it is found that five foreign nationals belonging to African countries, who have been residing in rented flats were overstaying despite the expiry of their visa. They have been taken into custody for further action, he said.

“Two of the foreign nationals were earlier booked in a cheating case at OU police station. The African nationals do not have valid visa. Letters have been sent to Foreigners Regional Registration Officer for further action. They were set free after receiving an undertaking to appear for investigation as and when needed,” he said.

Besides them, five offenders who were residing in the residential colonies were detained and also 20 bikes and two cars were seized from the claimants for not producing relevant documents of the vehicles.
