Siddaramaiah steps in, can he placate angry doctors?
Bengaluru/Belagavi: In a last-ditch attempt to stop the medical strike from escalating into a full-blown crisis, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stepped in to stop private doctors from going on strike starting Thursday. He called on doctors heading for Belagavi to participate in a protest demonstration against the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (Amendment) Bill in front of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, and not go through with the strike.
“We have not even tabled the draft bill in the house, and we have given our word that we will sit down and talk to the doctors on their reservations over the KPME Bill. When we have also assured them that we will not table the bill until we have talked to the doctors, we do think it is not fair that they have called a strike,” CM Siddaramaiah said, late on Wednesday night.
