VIJAYAWADA: In a bizarre way, Union minister and TD leader Y. Sujana Chowdary on Tuesday compared the Special Category Status (SCS) to the abolished Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination notes.
He said though these denominations are abolished, their value has not changed as these will be transformed into newly designed currency notes. Similarly the state has got special category status in the form of special assistance measure.
Addressing a press conference after TD parliamentary party meeting, he said he was ready to clarify any doubts of Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan.
Earlier, the TD meet chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu along with party national general secretary Nara Lokesh discussed the strategy to be adopted in the forthcoming Winter Session of Parliament.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister discussed various aspects provided in the special package. He appealed to MPs that pressure should be mounted on the Centre on according legal sanctity to the special package.
He directed them to get clarity on credit to be provided by Nabard for Polavaram project in a week’s time. He also said they should put pressure on the Centre to fulfil all promises made under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
Welcoming the decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, the Chief Minister said precautionary measures should have been taken to minimise difficulties to the public.
To curtail the flow of black money, public must be encouraged towards electronic currency. Centre must take adequate steps to increase online transactions, he said. He added that countries with lower education levels and less development than our country were ahead of us in using mobile banking services.
