Telangana seeks Railways lands to construct 2BHK houses for poor
Hyderabad: The TS government has requested Centre to allot railway lands in Secunderabad for construction of 2BHK houses for the poor and weaker sections.
Excise and sports minister T. Padma Rao, accompanied by advisor to the government B.V. Papa Rao and others, met Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu in New Delhi on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum in this regard.
Mr Padma Rao, who represents the Secunderabad Assembly constituency which has huge railway properties, sought allotment of 20 acres of railway land, including 12 acres in Lalapet, for the purpose. He submitted a list of vacant railway lands in Secunderabad to Mr Suresh Prabhu.
According to Mr Padma Rao, the Union railway minister gave a positive reply to the state’s plea. He informed the Union minister that state government was finding it difficult to take up massive 2BHK housing scheme in Secunderabad constituency due to insufficient government lands.
Mr Prabhu asked about suitable land in lieu of Railways lands to which Mr Padma Rao Goud said that he would take up the matter with the CM.
