Warangal: A state-level convention to sensitise youth on their role in social change was held at Bala Vikasa training centre here on Monday. About 4,000 people participated. Bala Vikasa has been supporting orphans by spending over Rs 2 crore every year for different activities.
Bala Theresa Gingras, the founder of Bala Vikasa stated that India enjoys the demographic advantage of having the youngest work force with an average age of 29 years in comparison with the advanced countries.
She reiterated that the youth has an important role to play in the social development, especially in fighting evils such as women inequality and widow discrimination. She appealed the youth to set individual goals and strive hard to achieve them. She further called on the corporate companies to contribute for societal development.
Bala Vikasa executive director S. Shoury Reddy said that the youth should become the change-makers to eradicate social evils. He requested the youth to utilise their social media skills towards noble cause for the society. He suggested the youth to develop technical skills to prove themselves as entrepreneurs.
The Bala Vikasa executive director said that Bala Vikasa International Centre that was established in Hyderabad will help mentor youth with entrepreneurial skills. During the convention, Rs 35,00,000 worth study material was given to 3,500 youth for securing over 60 per cent marks in their exams.
