BJP claims it's not against SC but government

The long march kicked off from Pandalam on Wednesday received support from various Hindu groups.

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP national general secretary P. Muralidhar Rao said the NDA's protest was not against the Supreme Court or the Constitution, but the Left government's haste to allow women of all ages at Sabarimala.

Mr Rao said that the devotees were keen to see the government filing a review petition against the SC verdict. Unfortunately, he said, the government was giving scant regard to their sentiments. “CPM has been claiming that they respect the verdict of the Supreme Court,” he said.

“It should be recalled that whenever there have been setbacks against the LDF Government, they had fought tooth and nail against the courts. The devotees are demanding to protect their interests and sentiments before the Left government."

Warning of more protests in the coming days, he also alleged that over the last several decades, CPM had been destroying temples.
