Bid to make Sabarimala conflict zone: KPCC chief
Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran has accused the BJP of trying to make Sabarimala a conflict zone.
Maintaining that his party was with the devotees, he said they value the rituals and traditions.
He also said that whoever is trying to visit Sabarimala when the temple opens on Wednesday evening will have the support of the CPM.
Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala demanded the Union and the state governments to bring an ordinance to protect the beliefs and traditions.
He said the Left government should have filed a review petition immediately after the Supreme Court verdict allowing all women there.
Congress working president K. Sudhakaran lashed out at Reshma Nishant, a Kannur-based teacher who is getting ready to visit Sabarimala. He alleged that there was a clear political conspiracy behind her Sabarimala 'pilgrimage'.
“I am confident that women devotees will not visit Sabarimala which is considered a sacred place. It is not the place to show your stubbornness and vigour," he said.
