RAJAHMUNDRY: Telugu Desam senior leader and Rajahmundry (rural) MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary lashed out at Bharatiya Janata Party MLC Somu Veerraju here on Sunday. He raised strong objection against the MLC for his frequent remarks against Andhra Pradesh state government.

Speaking to newspersons here on Sunday, Mr Chowdary said, "BJP leaders are trying to stall development works in the state. They are not different from YSR Congress in their attitude towards the government. The BJP party is also part of state government. But their behaviour is very similar to Opposition party."

He said that state BJP leaders should help TD get funds from the Centre along with MNREGS funds. "I made repeated complaints in written form urging the Centre not to stop development funds and many promises NDA government made," the Kakinada (rural) MLA said.

Mr Chowdary reminded the BJP leaders to strive for separate Railway Zone at Visakhapatnam, as promised in the election manifesto before coming to power.

The MLA pointed that if the Centre doesn't release MNREGS funds people in rural areas will face hardship. He said that BJP should play a constructive role as TD's ally.

Speaking on the development works in Rajahmundry, Mr Chowdary said that efforts were being made to sort out drainage problem in the city and new buildings would be constructed for state-run girls high school at a cost of `2 crore at Innespet. The former minister said that the government has earmarked `1.40 crore got Nataka Akademy  at Bommuru.

"An amount of Rs 4 crore is released for construction of Rajhmundry stadium. Plans are being drawn for development of Kambhala Cheruvu Park and A.B. Nageswara Rao Park at Aryapuram. Steps are being taken to construct three reservoirs to solve drinking water problems in the city," Mr Chowdary said.
