Kilpauk Medical College burns ward gears up ahead of festival

Two special wards accommodating 10 beds each have been opened at the hospital to carry out operations for three days starting from Tuesday.

Chennai: With Deepavali a few days away, Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) hospital is already geared up to treat burn injuries. Two special wards accommodating 10 beds each have been opened at the hospital to carry out operations for three days starting from Tuesday.

“Teams consisting of specialised doctors and nurses would be on their toes to manage Deepawali burns,” said the press statement. Earlier this month, the hospital also conducted awareness programs at schools and slums to promote a safe Deepavali. According to the doctors, a total of 36 patients in 2015 and 42 in 2016 were treated in KMC’s department of burns during the festival.
