It's an uphill task for NDRF
Bengaluru: After an intense combing operation for over 48 hours, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel succeeded in tracing and fishing out of the body of 22-year-old Pushpa on Sunday.
However, the body of her mother Ningamma, who got washed away along with Pushpa on Friday was still untraceable.
The NDRF personnel searched for about 25 to 30 kilometers all along the storm water drain. The body was fished out at Kumbalgod on Sunday.
It may be recalled that on Friday, the mother and daughter got washed away in the storm-water drain at Laggere, near Kurubarahalli.
Pushpa’s body was found stuck to a stone in a big storm-water drain in Kumbalgodu, 12km away from
Kempegowda Layout - the spot where the duo fell in the drain. She along
with her mother had fallen in a drain water following the heavy downpour on Friday night.
NDRF and Fire and Emergency personnel who were searching for Ningamma have halted the search operation for the day on Sunday and will resume tomorrow morning.
Choppers, drones to be used
Helicopter and drones will be used for the first time to trace the body of Ningamma, who has been washed away in incessant rain on Friday at Laggere near Kurubarahalli.
It may be recalled that both mother and daughter duo Ningamma and Pushpa were washed away in storm water drain.
Since the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been finding it extremely difficult to trace the body, helicopters, underwater camera and other technology will be used, said Mayor Sampath Raj.
Drain lacks retaining wall and bushy and thorny plants have become deterrent for the combing operation.
