Movies must reflect reality: CM Pinarayi Vijayan
Palakkad: Malayalm films need to reflect the realities on ground and should convey the pain and the suffering in real life, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Saturday.
Distributing the state film award for 2015 here at function held at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium, Mr Vijayan said that even the new generation Malayalam movies should have the smell of its soil.
Mr Vijayan distributed as many as 48 state awards. Veteran director and screenplay writer K. G. George given the the JC Daniel Award for his lifetime contribution to films at the award night.
Yesteryear superstars Madhu, Sheela, Sharada and Kaviyoor Ponnamma, along with singer K.J. Yesudas, lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi, music director M.K. Arjunan were given special awards for completing 50 years in Malayalam films.
Dulquer Salmaan and Parvathy, who won the award for best male and female actors respectively, accepted the awards from the chief minister.
A mega song and dance show, participated by actors and singers from the film industry was also staged. It was for the first time that the state award function was held in Palakkad.
