Medical admissions: Kerala High Court to hear government petition on October 19

Court had earlier directed the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations to submit an affidavit relating to the spot admissions.

Thiruvananthapuram: The High Court will consider on October 19 the state government’s petition seeking to uphold the decision of the Admission Supervisory Committee to cancel the admissions to Kannur Medical College and accept the fresh admission list prepared by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations for the Karuna Medical College.

Earlier, the court had directed the CEE to submit an affidavit relating to the spot admissions conducted in these colleges on October 7.

Meanwhile, the ASC is learnt to have asked the colleges to produce the records to scrutinise the admission details. The ASC would also ask other medical colleges to furnish the details.

The Kerala University of Health Science (KUHS) had earlier refused to approve the admissions made by the CEE in Kannur and Karuna medical colleges.

The report submitted by the CEE had pointed out that Kannur medical college authorities had ignored the direction of the court to be present before the CEE with all the relevant records. The report also said that there were discrepancies in the rank list of the students admitted to the college.
