Fake seed firms let off: Telugu Desam

TD on Saturday demanded the state government to book eight seed companies under the PD Act.

Hyderabad: The TS TD on Saturday demanded the state government to book eight seed companies under the PD Act for supplying spurious seeds and thereby caused enormous crop damage. TD working president A. Revanth Reddy told reporters that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was making empty promises of slapping the PD Act on seed companies but in reality, his government was refusing to book cases despite the agriculture commissioner having served notices to the seed companies.

Mr Reddy alleged that the agriculture commissioner has been asked to go on leave for issuing the notices to eight seed companies, of which a few companies like Kaveri Seeds is owned by a close relative of the Chief Minister. He said the CM Chief Minister also failed to extend compensation to farmers who used the spurious seeds.
