Attack on journalists: 10 lawyers booked for assault on scribes
Thiruvananthapuram: The city police on Saturday registered a case against 10 lawyers for allegedly attacking four reporters including two women inside Special vigilance court at Vanchiyoor a day earlier. Five of the accused lawyers were identified in the complaint as Kerala Bar Association secretary Anayara Shaji, Arun P. Nair, R. Rethin, B. Subash and L.R. Rahul. The others were yet to be identified at the time of going to print.
As per the complaint, the accused bashed up and threatened scribe Prabhat Nair of The New Indian express and asked him to leave the court premises. They verbally abused and ousted C.P. Ajitha of Asianet News, Justeena Thomas of Manorama News and pulled out J Ramakrishnan of PTI by collar.
The victims had handed over the complaint to city police commissioner G Sparjan Kumar on Friday. A case has been registered and probe has been launched by sub inspector V Saiju Nath.
