Ramnath Kovind, Narendra Modi pained over boat tragedy
VIJAYAWADA: President Ramnath Kovind led the nation in mourning the boat accident, saying he was saddened to hear of the incident. “Thoughts and prayers with the bereaved families. Local authorities are undertaking rescue and relief efforts,” the President said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a tweet, said he was “extremely pained” by the accident. “My thoughts are with the bereaved families. Rescue operations are currently underway at the site of the tragedy”, he said.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief and Union home minister Amit Shah stated that the loss of lives was very unfortunate.
“I am deeply pained. My thoughts are with families of those who have lost their loved ones,” he said in a tweet.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said, “My deepest condolences to the families of those who have perished in this tragedy. I pray that all those reported missing are safe and will soon be accounted for.”
