Nalini taken back to special cell in Vellore
VELLORE: Nalini, one of the life-convicts in the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, was on Sunday taken back to the special women’s prison in Vellore on completion of her 51-day parole.
Nalini, who has been serving a prison term for the last 28 years, had recently petitioned the Madras High court to grant her a six-month parole to enable her perform the wedding of her daughter.
Following the High court order, on July 25, was initially released on a parole for 30 days and she stayed in a house in Vellore for performing her daughter’s wedding. Then, subsequently, Nalini’s parole was extended by 21 more days.
On completion of 51 days today, Nalini amid heavy police escort was taken back and lodged in the special prison for women in Vellore.
