HMDA wins Kandlakoya case after a decade

The HMDA will now pay nearly Rs 130 cr for the acquisition of nearly 111 acres.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has finally won pending Kandlakoya case in the Supreme Court. The HMDA claimed that the issue pertaining to the construction of the Outer Ring Road which has been going on for 10 years has been successfully won and the compensation will be paid accordingly to the farmers who have given their land for construction Outer Ring Road. The HMDA will now pay nearly Rs 130 cr for the acquisition of nearly 111 acres.

However, the HMDA had already received the go-ahead from the SC a few months ago, to resume the road work at Kandlakoya much before the final judgement.

The pending work has been completed and the ORR interchange was inaugurated in April by Urban Development Minister M. K Taraka Rama Rao.

The HMDA and the property owners had held consultations, as per the directions of the Supreme Court, to come to an agreement regarding the compensation amount. An official said that the landowners had agreed to accept the package offered by the HMDA as per the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act of 2013.
