CPM leaders booked for attacking Thumpa SI

Police had taken Nas-ar (44) of Mangattuvilakom for obstructing the traffic during the vehicle check at 8.30 p.m. on Friday.

Thiruvananthapuram: The police has registered a case against 25 activists for allegedly attacking the Thumpa police station. The activists against whom case has been registered included CPM district committee members Attipra Sadanandan and V.S. Padmakumar and councilors Medayil Vikraman and Sivadutt.

The allegation was that the activists attacked the police station and manhandled police officials including SI C. Prathapa Chandran alleging that the police had beaten up a CPM activist who was taken into custody on Friday night during vehicle checking.

Police had taken Nas-ar (44) of Mangattuvilakom for obstructing the traffic during the vehicle check at 8.30 p.m. on Friday. The leaders of the CPM who reached the spot began to abuse the police officials saying that they have beaten up Mr Nasar.

The CPM activists continued their protest till the wee hours of the morning. They stopped the agitation only after the discussions with Kazhakuttom assistant commissioner of Police S Anilkumar.
