Telangana Wakf Board chief Mohammed Saleem talks tough on scam
Hyderabad: As the Muslim community keenly follows the TS Wakf Board recruitment scam, chairman Mohammed Saleem says that the Board will soon write to the vigilance department requesting an inquiry into the matter.
Mr Saleem had made a similar announcement when fixed deposit receipts amounting to nearly Rs 2 crore went missing from the Wakf Board. The missing money belonged to the Anees-ul-Ghruba, an orphanage in Nampally. Mr Saleem had ordered an enquiry into the matter and said that the Board would file a police complaint upon identification of the responsible persons.
Board officials contacted various banks in which the money had been deposited, and they were informed that the deposits were intact. However, officials have yet to get clarity on the amount of interest that has been accumulated on the principal amount.
Meanwhile, Mr Saleem seems determined to punish the officials found to be guilty of involvement in the recruitment scam as well. “I am not afraid of anyone. I will ensure that the culprits are punished and justice is delivered to the community. Wakf properties belong to the community and no one can swindle the Wakf Board,” he says.
