Malpractices ruin education: Experts
Vijayawada: Educationists and psychiatrists are getting worried about the question paper leak culture developing in school students. Addiction to malpractices from high school will damage the memory and concentration of students, say doctors.
“Question paper leaks and concentrating on important questions, while ignoring the whole syllabus, will create problems for students in the long run. The zeal to learn will disappear from students and they will search for easy ways to score marks, which will impact their studies,” said Dr Indla Ramasubba Reddy, psychiatrist.
He suggested that parents should not encourage schools which conduct day-long classes and make students mug up notes, as this will create an aversion in students, making them ineffective in facing competitive examinations in the long run.
Student unions held massive protests across the state, on Friday, opposing the question paper leaks and demanded stringent action against the concerned officials.
“Corporation schools which were searching for alternative ways to get good marks for their students, were encouraging these leaks, which are destroying students’ future.
The Education Depart-ment, was confined to the role of a spectator, as ministers in the state have direct contacts with these institutes,” said Progressive Democratic Students’ Union, secretary, A. Ravichandra.
Educationists are demanding action against officials in the education department along with schools, for negligence in the question paper leaks.
