Gauri murder: Karnataka CM meets SIT officials

Earlier in the day, rowdy sheeter Kunigal Giri tried to meet SIT officials following reports suspecting his involvement in the case.

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held a meeting on Friday night with SIT officials probing the murder of eminent journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh.

Sources said the Chief Minister met the SIT officials, city Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar and other senior officers in an unscheduled meeting at the KSRP Training & Research Centre in Ashoknagar.

The meeting was attended by adviser to Home Minister Kempaiah and other senior police officials. It is said the Chief Minister took details of the progress made in the case and gave some directions to the SIT.

Rowdy meets SIT officials
Earlier in the day, rowdy sheeter Kunigal Giri tried to meet SIT officials following reports suspecting his involvement in the case. However, the officials did not wish to talk to him and sent him off as they had not summoned him.

"I have come here as my name figured in the case. My parents are worried by this and I would like to clarify that I have no connection with this case," Giri told reporters.
