4-year-old gifts Rs 11,000 to Amaravati on his birthday
Vijayawada: Four-year-old Mandava Varenya Chowdary of Pedanandipadu, Guntur district, has contributed Rs 11,000 towards the development of Amaravati. On the occasion of his birthday, on Friday, he handed over a cheque to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at his residence in Undavalli. Mr Naidu commended the boy, and his parents, for the generous contribution.
Varenya had been asking his maternal grandfather Vellanki Sivaram Prasad to take him to meet the CM. On the occasion of his birthday, his grandfather finally decided to grant his wish and take him to the CM’s residence. There the boy handed over a cheque of Rs 11,000 towards funds for the construction of the capital city. Mr Prasad, who works as a manager at a private firm, also donated Rs 49,000 towards the development of the capital. According to his grandfather, the boy had been collecting money in his junior savings account.
Mr Prasad’s daughter and son-in-law are both software engineers who are currently living in MP. Meanwhile, the boy is under his grandfather’s care. Though they hail from Pedanandipadu, they are settled in Guntur city. “I wanted to fulfil my grandson’s wish, and so I brought him to see the Chief Minister. The boy is so happy,” Mr Prasad said.
