Simha murder plot: 14 convicted

Bengaluru: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court on Thursday convicted 14 accused, arrested in the 2012 terror conspiracy to kill the BJP MP from Mysuru, Pratap Simha, as part of a larger conspiracy to eliminate several right-wing leaders.

The then assistant commissioner of police (CCB) K.N Jitendranath on August 29, 2013 had arrested two youths, Shoaib Ahmed Mirza - a computer applications postgraduate and his associate Abdul Hakeem Jamadar - a commerce graduate, when they were putting the attack plan together.

Those convicted include Shoaib Ahmed Mirza aka Chotu, Abdul Hakeem Jamadar aka Abdullah, Riyaz Ahmed Byahatti, Mohammad Akram alias Khaled, Abdullah Abrader, Waheed Hussain Kanakyanavar.

Of them, accused number eight - Ubedllah Bahadur who was found in possession of highly sensitive data and images pertaining to the Government of India was convicted under the Official Secrets Act (OSA), 1923.

The absconding prime accused and an engineer Mohammed Shahid Faisal alias Zakir alias Ustad from Bengaluru had allegedly brought together the convicted youths with the LeT masterminds in Saudi Arabia to hatch and execute the terror conspiracy.
