8 grace marks added; 5 Hyderabad students in Eamcet-3 top 10

All students were awarded eight grace marks due to errors in the question paper.

Hyderabad: An AP student topped the Telangana Eamcet-3 medical entrance exam, the results of which were announced on Thursday. Regulla Prapulla Manasa from Gudivada in Krishna district came first, scoring 152 marks out of 160.

While girls dominated the results by getting the top three ranks, as well as most of the top 10 ranks, students from Hyderabad got five of the top-10 ranks.
All students were awarded eight grace marks due to errors in the question paper. While seven questions had no correct options, the eighth question was out of syllabus.

This is the highest grace marks awarded to students in Eamcet in recent times.
JNTU-Hyderabad officials clarified that these questions could not be termed erroneous, but of IIT standard, which were difficult for Eamcet-level students to understand.

They stated that due to the Eamcet-2 question paper leak, none of the local teachers who set the paper had come forward to prepare Eamcet-3 question papers on account of repeated questioning of the police and CID officials of those involved in setting the Eamcet-2 paper. Officials said they were thus forced to hand over the task of setting the Eamcet-3 question paper to IIT professors.

The other girl toppers include P. Sri Harika from Secunderabad (2nd rank, 151 marks), Thappeta Tejaswini from Anantapur (3rd rank, 151 marks), Mittapally Alekya from Khammam (7th rank, 150 marks), Nuzhath Fatima from Adilabad (8th rank, 150 marks) and Kavya Bulusu from Hyderabad (9th rank, 150 marks).
The other toppers included Zeeshan Ahmed Jaleeli from Hyderabad (4th rank, 150 marks), Ikram Khan from Hyderabad (5th rank, 151 marks), Adla Sreekanteshwar Reddy from Secunderabad (8th rank, 151 marks), Vempati Roopeessh of Miryalguda, Nalgonda (10th rank, 150 marks).

The OMR answer sheets have been uploaded on the website http://tseamcet.in and can be accessed online on September 16 and 17. Candidates who want to submit a representation about any discrepancy in the evaluation of their answer sheets should pay Rs 5,000 (Rs 2,000 in case of SC/ST candidates) and submit the same on www.tseamcet.in by 5 pm on September 17.

Only valid representations received with fees will be examined and the decision of the committee in this matter shall be final. The amount will be refunded to the candidate in case the error is accepted by the committee.
