Vamsadhara-Nagavali link project to be completed by year-end: Botsa Satyanarayana

Visakhapatnam: Education minister Botsa Satyanarayana has said the Vamsadhara-Nagavali high level link canal will be completed by the end of December.

Hoisting the national flag in Srikakulam town on Tuesday to mark Independence Day, the minister said 80 per cent of this project has been completed and the remaining would be ready by the year-end.

All the development projects in the district have been put on the fast track and each would be completed in a time-bound manner, he said.

The minister said 2.94 lakh children were enrolled in government private schools in the state. In the first phase of Nadu Nedu, nine types of infrastructural facilities were completed for refurbishing 1,247 schools. Some 289 crore was spent. In the second phase,427 crore was sanctioned to give a facelift to 1,096 anganwadi centers and junior colleges. Works are in various stages of completion, the minister said.

He said all the students from first standard to the tenth class were being given nine types of items under the Jagananna Vidya Kanuka.

Claiming that the health services were improving in the state, he said 594 YSR village health clinics were opened, of which 144 clinics have their own buildings. A kidney research center and dialysis clinic was being developed at a cost of '50 crore, which would be opened by the chief minister shortly.

Stressing that importance was being given to improve the lot of the fishermen in the district, he said the chief minister had laid the foundation stone on April 19 for the fishing harbour at Budagatlapalem under Etcherla mandal, which would cost '365 crore. The harbour can accommodate 780 mechanized fishing boats benefiting 3,840 fishermen.

Similarly, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the Moolapeta Sea Port that would provide jobs to 35,000 people, the minister said.
