Don’t blame RSS alone: Thol Thirumavalavan

“Media proliferation and their discussing these issues are conducive for making these issues a public debate,” he said.

Thanjavur: The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan has called for a public, transparent debate on issues like untouchability and casteism among people belonging to all castes.

Speaking at the state conference of Tamil Nadu Theendamai Ozhippu Munnani he said that there is no point in discussing about these issues among Dalits alone. Other caste people should also be made aware of the basic and
primary conflicts in society.

In this direction, Left parties taking up these issues had brought them to the mainstream and focused attention of all including those in ruling to these issues.

“Media proliferation and their discussing these issues are conducive for making these issues a public debate,” he said.

Describing left parties as natural allies of VCK, he said that VCK aligning with left parties is a social necessity and not for mere election and temporary benefits.

“When left parties orchestrate an issue, it gets national attention. Reservation for arunthathiyars and retrieving panchami lands are examples for this” Thirumavalavan
said.

He said that “sanadhanis” are against eradication of castes and eradication of untouchability. They are also against giving equal rights to women. They consider people differ by births, he said. “We have to fight against these sanadhanis. It is not RSS, Hindutva forces alone are sanadhanis. Those who oppose eradication of castes are sanadhanis,” he said. K. Balakrishnan, CPI(M) state secretary participated in the conference.
