Athi Varadar gets over 1 crore devotees, Rs 8 crore hundi collection

According to sources the temple realised a hundial collection of about Rs 8 crore.

Chennai: Athi Varadar vaibhavam has received about one crore footfalls and is counting.

Though there will be no darshan on August 17 when Athigiri Varada retires to Anantasaras and will be in Ekantha Kolam, the penultimate day of the 48-day festival is likely to lure lakhs of devotees. On Thursday more three lakh devotees had darshan of the Lord.

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami who had personally overseen the arrangements of the festival and contributed his own funds for the annadhanam at the temple, was prompted to announce during his Independence Day address that the Lord Athi Varadar festival, had attracted about one crore devotees.

According to sources the temple realised a hundial collection of about `8 crore.
