On I-Day, K Chandrasekhar Rao presents report card

The CM's speech lasted for over one hour and was his longest Independence Day speech so far.

Hyderabad: In his fifth and final address in the current tenure from the ramparts of Golconda Fort on the occasion of Independence Day on Wednesday, Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao delivered a report card of the TRS government highlighting the achievements of his government in the last four years.

Mr Rao’s speech lasting a little over one hour and often interrupted due to his cough, resembled that of an ‘election speech’ and was his longest I-D speech so far. He said Telangana made rapid strides in all sectors overcoming all the hurdles created by some ‘disruptive forces’.

He said his government would soon launch special schemes for the welfare of poor in upper castes.

Mr Rao said Hyderabad Metro Rail from LB Nagar to Ameerpet and Ameer-pet to Hitech city would become operational in September and November respectively. “In the last four years without wasting a single minute, we have been implementing human centric welfare schemes and development progammes in the State.Telangana State is the only one in the country to implement over 40 types of welfare schemes by spending over Rs 40,000 crore per year. We could attract huge investments in industrial and IT sector due to which Telangana has emerged at the forefront as an ideal development model for the rest of the country,” he said.

He added, “The strides being made has helped Telangana State emerge as not just as one the nation can take pride in but has also been contributing to nation-building.”

Mr Rao cautioned people against ‘disruptive forces’ who were continuing their efforts to sow divisions among people and destroy the unity in society for petty political gains.

The CM praised the police department saying that the police was working relentlessly to maintain law and order in state.
