Time to renew our service pledge, says Madras High Court Chief Justice

Madras HC judges, staffs and others took part in the function.

Chennai: The Madras high court Chief Justice Indira Banerjee said “we are committed to protect the human rights, which includes the basic rights such as the right to food, shelter, clothing, health care and the right to education and life.

While addressing 71st Independence Day celebrations in Madras High Court campus on Tuesday, Chief Justice said the responsibility rests on the judiciary to protect the rights of people of India and to uphold justice, social, economical and political, liberty of thought, faith and worship, equality of status and opportunity and to protect the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the nation.

She said there are obstacles in the way, there are delays, but the judiciary is committed to renew our pledge today, to our level best, to ensure that no person of this country is delayed justice.

Today is the day to remind ourselves the pledge of dedication to the service of India. Madras HC judges, staffs and others took part in the function.
