Tamil Nadu: Notice to TRB, education dept on special drawing teachers recruitment
Chennai: Madras high court has ordered notice to Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) and secretary, department of school education, Tamil Nadu, on a plea seeking to recruit special teachers for the posts of ‘drawing teachers’.
Justice S.M. Subramaniam before whom the petition filed by Thirupathi of Ramnad district came up for hearing, has passed the order.
In the petition, Thirupathi, who was appointed to the post of part time ‘drawing teacher’ on a consolidated pay, submitted that a notification dated July 20, 2017, was issued by authorities in which it was mentioned that the qualifications required for appointment as teachers for drawing as a Diploma (five years) Course awarded by Director of Technical Education and a Bachelor Degree awarded by Madras University or Bharathiyar University.
He said qualifications are over and above the qualifications mentioned in the School Education Subordinate Special Rules. He said this would invite more number of applications resulting in stiff competition for the post.
He feared that the insertion of additional qualifications, the candidates like him though having possessed the required qualification and experience as per Special Rules may not be selected for the post.
The authorities ought to have prescribed the qualification for appointment of drawing teachers in accordance with Special Rules.
He sought the court for a direction to the authorities to appoint the drawing teachers as per the Special Rules and give preference to him in appointment.
After issuing notice to the authorities Justice Subramaniam has directed them to file reply in four weeks.
