K Chandrashekar Rao honours IAS, IPS officers on I-Day

Performances of various cultural art forms were done.

Hyderabad: India’s 71st Independence Day was celebrated with great pomp and patriotic fervour at the Golconda Fort on Tuesday. The celebrations were conducted in the open lawns infront of the Rani Mahal for the fourth year in a row. VVIPs and politicians turned out in large numbers to participate in it.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was received with a rousingwelcome. He was given a guard of honour by the police, after which his vehicle was escorted to the main venue.

The Chief Minister unfurled the flag that was hoisted on a rostrum near the Taramati Mosque and the national anthem was played. A march past was conducted by the police, a brass band and school children dressed in the tricolour.

Mr Rao addressed the gathering and spoke about his governments’ achievements, schemes and priorities. He presented Telangana Visishta Puraskars to literary icons, Telangana Excellence Awards to IAS officers, IPS officers, and government officials from various departments, and medals and cheques to the families of martyred policemen. Performances of various cultural art forms were done.
