Shabbir Ali seeks CBI probe into Nayeem case

New facts were emerging in cases related to gangster Nayeem and his gang.

Hyderabad: Mr Shabbir Ali, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, said on Monday that new facts were emerging in cases related to gangster Nayeem and his gang and suspicions were being cast on the seriousness of the probe of the Special Investigation Team headed by senior IPS officer Y. Nagi Reddy.

“As against the SIT’s claims of seizure of Rs 2.85 crore, there are rumours that the quantity of cash was huge. There are unconfirmed reports that many property documents seized from Nayeem's dens were either being destroyed or misused,” he alleged. Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Mr Shabbir Ali alleged that names of police officials and politicians had cropped up during the investigation.

He alleged that no investigation conducted by state agencies had ever reached its conclusion. “The SIT would act under the Chief Minister and cannot be expected to be fair due to political pressure. Therefore, the Chief Minister should immediately order a CBI investigation,” he demanded.
