Patriotic fervour marks Independence-Day in Rajahmundry

ONGC announces to induct 2 type III rigs to step up exploration.

RAJAHMUNDRY: Independence day celebrations were held with patriotic fervour as officials from government and private offices, educational institutions and political leaders from political parties hoisted the National Flag in Godavari districts on Monday. At ONGC Base Complex, ONGC (onshore) director V.P. Mahawar said that the public sector major was committed to reduce the import burden of oil and gas by 10 per cent.

He said that the company management had approved to induct two type III rigs to intensify drilling operation as part of exploration for oil and gas in Krishna-Godavari basin on onshore projects. He said that the PSU had come up with a '100 crore initiative named as ‘ONGC Start-up’ along with the Centre and added that the ONGC KG basin had been declared as the best performing asset for the year 2015-16 by ONGC authorities.

At Police Training Centre, special branch DSP B. Ramakrishna hoisted the national flag and accepted the guard of honour. In West Godavari at Collectorate, the district Collector K. Bhaskar hoisted the National Flag along with other officials. Earlier, he garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and offered tributes to him.

Several senior officials of the government took part in the programme. Students from several schools prsented cultural programmes to mark the occasion.
