Modi believes mere advertising will better his image: Mallikarjun Kharge
Bengaluru: Taking a dig at Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Congress party leader in Lok Sabha, M. Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday quipped that the Union government led by him believes more in advertising than protecting the interests of the poor.
Speaking to reporters after participating in the 70th Independence Day celebrations at the Congress office here, Mr Kharge said, "Everyone knows, what Mr Modi's likes are. He believes that mere advertisements will lift his image. His speech at the Red Fort too fell short on many counts. It was the Congress party's 10-year long governance that laid the foundation stone for producing power in the country and now by releasing advertisements, he is trying to portray that he is the messiah."
Slamming Mr Modi further, Mr Kharge said, that the Comptroller and Auditor General’s report has clearly indicated in which direction the Modi led government was moving. In response to a question, he asserted that the Union government's move to merge the Railway Budget with the Union Budget would prove disastrous in the days to come.
“The Centre should have thought of giving more autonomy to railways by infusing more funds instead of thinking of merging both budgets,” he said.
