Guntur's per capita growth was phenomenal: P Pulla Rao
GUNTUR: Guntur district has achieved Rs 55,871 crore gross district domestic product during the last financial year, claimed agriculture minister P. Pulla Rao in his Independence Day speech at the Parade Grounds here on Monday. Mr Pulla Rao said that the district stood in the fourth rank in domestic production and the per capita income of individuals in the district has registered a phenomenal growth and stood at Rs 1,09,556.
In this respect, the district stood on the fifth place in the state, Mr Pulla Rao said. He said that the district achieved a growth of 11.39 percent during the same period. The minister said that to govern from the new capital city Amaravati, the construction of the temporary Secretariat at Velagapudi in Tullur mandal in Guntur district has almost been completed. He said that most of the state government offices have been shifted from Hyderabad to Amaravati capital city and the remaining offices also would be shifted in the coming days, after the Krishna Pushkaralu concludes.
Mr Pulla Rao said that the TD government has been giving topmost priority to the primary sector, agriculture. He said that the government conducted soil test in about 83,000 agriculture fields in the district alone. The minister informed that the government waived loans of 6,72,000 farmers in the district alone, spending about Rs 2,876 crore on this. District collector Kantilal Dande, Guntur urban SP S. Tripathi and Rural SP K. Narayan Naik, GMC Commissioner S. Nagalakshmi and others were present.
