Arvind accuses BRS of misappropriating ₹5,221 cr of Centre funds

Nizamabad: BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind alleged that ₹5,221 crore of Central government funds were misappropriated in Telangana state, and demanded a CBI inquiry into alleged ‘double billing’ by the BRS.

Speaking during a visit to a ₹15-crore bridge, constructed recently on Centre’s funds, in Velpur of Balkonda Assembly constituency on Sunday, he said: “The Central government allocated funds under Special Assistance Scheme, but the BRS government claimed state funds and indulged in double billing.”

Arvind accused roads and buildings minister V. Prashanth Reddy of “misappropriating Central funds” and said he was “busy filling the coffers of BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha”.

Sharing that he complained to Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the issue, he said: “We are verifying the details of utilisation certificates and other records of works taken up on state and Central funds.”

Arvind also accused T. Harish Rao of misleading the public on the Siddipet Ring Road, as ₹160 crore of Centre’s funds were used for the same. “Inefficiency of the BRS government threw the power sector into ₹1 lakh crore debt. Kalvakuntla Kavitha will go to jail in Delhi liquor scam case after she returns from abroad,” he said.
