Thiruvananthapuram: Missing student’s body found on CET campus

The police has recovered a note and suspects suicide.

Thiruvananthapuram: The decomposed body of M Tech final year student Shyan Padmanabham, 27, who had gone missing a week back, was found amid bushes on the College of Engineering campus, near here. The police has recovered a note and suspects suicide.

After a brief stint at a private firm in Bengaluru, Shyan had been staying with his sister, employed at Technopark, and brother-in-law at their flat in Pangappara.

He had left the flat last Monday, saying he was going to the library. He did not show up till in late the evening when the relatives alerted the Cyber city police. They trailed his mobile phone, which was on till Tuesday afternoon. The police then searched campus CCTV footage and identified with the help relatives someone resembling Shyan walking towards Hymavathy pond on the campus.

The police and students scoured the vicinity though in vain.

The police brought in a sniffer, which stopped beside the pond, indicating drowning.

Fire Force scuba divers searched the pond but could not find anything. The body was later discovered one kilometre away from the pond. Shyan hailed from Kozhikode.
