Thanjavur: Siva-Vishnu temple consecrated

The Kumbabishekam was performed after 15 years, said B.G. Subramani Sharma, head trustee of the temple.

Thanjavur: Hundreds of people witnessed the Kumbabishekam and Mahasamprokshanam (consecration) of Siva-Vishnu temple on Grand Anicut canal banks here on Monday.

‘Kumbams (pots)’ with holy water were taken in procession from the Yagasala at 9 am along with playing of ‘Nadaswaram’ and chanting of ‘Mantras’, and holy water was poured on the ‘Kalasams’ of the two ‘Vimanas’ at 9.15 am. Deities Lakshmi Narayanar, Ranganathaswamy, Kuberalakshmi, Guruvayurappan, Radhakrishnan, Anjaneyar, Sri Garudalwar, Sri Ayyappan, Subramaniar, Durga, Ganesha and Navagrahas are in the temple.

The Kumbabishekam was performed after 15 years, said B.G. Subramani Sharma, head trustee of the temple. Babaji Rajah Bhonsle from royal family, Singaravelu, former MP, S.N.M. Ubauathullah, former state minister, trustees of the temple Usha Sharma, Prateek, Jayalakshmi, Shivani Sharma and Aariyan Gaur participated in the event. The Yagasala Poojas with nearly 50 Yaga Kundams started on July 13 and continued till Monday. Bhajans by vocalist O.S. Arun was rendered later.
