Plea to register case against Pon Manickvel

Pon Manickavel had managed to register another case and had illegally arrested him.

Chennai: Suspended DSP J.Kader Batcha has approached the Madras high court to direct the DGP to register a case through CB-CID wing, based on his complaints, against Pon Manickavel, the court-appointed special officer to probe idol theft cases, for allegedly colluding with a core accused in various theft cases and foisting false cases against him.

Justice N.Anand Venkatesh before whom the petition filed by Kader Batcha came up for hearing, adjourned it to July 24, after asking the additional public prosecutor to file a status report on the issues raised by the petitioner.

According to petitioner, he was the one who had unleashed the foreign trade scam on issuing red alert to International Idol smuggler Subash Kapoor. He had also recovered antique statues in an unparalleled note in the investigation history of idol wing. The successive officer Pon Manickavel thus to gain the attention of the media, had recovered lot of statues, which were uncertain to be an antique. Agitated on his own inability direly colluding with Deena Dayalan, a core accused in various theft cases, he had started to foist false cases on officers as that of the petitioner to quench his bureaucratic vengeance. For the purpose of framing false cases he had freed Deena Dayalan for no genuine reason from Palavalor case and extracted an unsubstantiated judicial confession framing the petitioner as accused in the capacity of investigating officer, whereas during the period the petitioner was not at all posted in idol wing, he added.

He said on the strength of the same accused Deena Dayalan as witness, Pon Manickavel had managed to register another case and had illegally arrested him.

Further, he declared him as an absconding accused, forcing him to file anticipatory bail petition. During the hearing, Pon Manickavel stated that the petitioner was required only for bailable offences and the high court directed the petitioner to appear before the idol wing for 6 days. While he was complying with the direction, on the sixth day, without any judicial authorization, Pon Manickavel had again arrested him for bailable offences and later he came out on bail.

Therefore, the attitude of Pon Manickavel illustrates his intention of foul play causing undue damages to the reputation of the petitioner. Therefore, he sent complaints twice to the DGP for immediate action against Pon Manickavel. But there was no response. Hence, he filed the present petition, petitioner added.
