Kollam: Kollam Corporation has opened a marine aquarium at the Mahatma Gandhi park in Kollam beach that showcases a wide variety of marine organisms. There are a total of 18 marine fish varieties including Banner fish, Clown Fish, Blue Trigger, and Moorish Idol on display.
The fish ecosystem has been set up in 24 tanks and a pool having capacity of 12,000 liters. It will be open on evenings with a fee of Rs 25 per person. The government is also considering the construction of a 3D theatre to exhibit the micro life of marine animals. The civic body is also beautifying the beach by setting up a botanical garden and memory park that has trees bearing the names of eminent personalities, to promote tourism.
