Kochi: GCDA plan for P&T colony gets govt nod
Kochi: The state government has given administrative sanction for the Greater Cochin Development Authority's project to rehabilitate the families in P&T colony, who have been living in miserable condition for long. The apartment project is estimated at Rs.15.84 crore.
The Authority will be directly executing the project.
The apartments will be constructed under the LIFE Mission scheme on the 70 cents owned by the GCDA in Rameswaram village.
There will be 88 housing units in the two four-storey apartment complexes. Ownership of the land will be retained by the Authority.
"Steps have already been started for the construction of the houses. The foundation stone for the housing project was laid by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan earlier," said Authority chairman V. Salim.
Each family will be provided with a 400 sq feet built-up area house with all basic facilities. Estimated cost for construction of a house is around Rs. 7.20 lakh.
